The Event

The Puerto Rico MTB Cup race is registered and organized as C1 and Junior Series by UCI regulations and rules for Men Elite, Women Elite,  Men Juniors and Women Juniors categories. 

Entry System and Criteria

• Entry is open to any UCI Junior license holder.

• Riders belonging to any UCI elite MTB team or a UCI MTB team.

Or:

Belong to the National Team from your country. Each National Federation may enter a maximum of 5 supplementary riders per category (uniform for these riders is at the discretion of the national federation)

The national federation of the organizing country, may register supplementary riders from that country for team B. The maximum number of these additional riders, the selection criteria used to select them, and the uniform they race in is at the discretion of the national federation.

REGISTRATION

There is onsite registration and online registration. Online registration will be closed on Friday March 1, at 5:00 pm and after that time registration will be onsite and close at 4:30 am on March 2, 2024.

Terms of Registration

Puerto Rico MTB Cup is open to all riders who have a valid UCI license issued by a National Cycling Federation.

Each registration is personal. Transfer of registration or transferring the registration of a participant to another will not be permitted.

REGISTRATION FEE

UCI Categories: Open Elite and Junior

    The registration fee is $100 for men and for women. No registration fees are expected for UCI MTB ELITE teams. 

    ** Note: If you register after Friday February 29, 2024 at 5:00 pm you pay $120. 

Age Categories and others.

    The registration fee is $30 for men and for women. 

Checks are accepted

RULES AND PENALTIES

The Elite M/W, Junior M/W and all national categories will be sanctioned according to the current rules of the UCI as a Class 1 XCO race. UCI rules Here.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Course Length: 3.17 Miles (5.07 Kilometers)

Elevation Gain: 456 feet (139 meters)

Feed / Technical Assistance Zones: There are a Feed Zone and a Technical Assistance zone. They are located close to the Start / Finish area. 

TRAINING RACE

Racers must be present at the start, at least 30 minutes before the start.

Please check the schedule for training times.

The use off the track is prohibited, except for training and racing periods, because service vehicles will be on the tracks preparing them for the race or executing regular works.

The time limit is 80% of the leaders. The decision for application of the 80 % rule will be taken by the commissaries and it will be announced in the Team Managers' Meeting.

** The rules will be finalized by the organization company, UCI and the National Cycling Federation before the race.

RACE HEADQUARTER

Will be in a tent near the start and finish line of the race track and will be opened Saturday February 25, 2023 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. 

PRIZES

The prize money for the event will be paid in US Dollars, at the minimum specified by the UCI Financial Obligations for Class 1 XCO events.  Prize amounts will be converted from Euros using the current exchange rate at the date of the race.

UCI RANKING POINTS

Points for this event will be awarded in the UCI Individual Cross-Country ranking for each of Men Elite and Women Elite. The points will be applied to the ranking on the date of the first UCI XCO Ranking update following the event.

CLIMATE / WEATHER

In March, average daily temperatures are near 81⁰F (27⁰C). The weather is generally sunny and humid. Light rain can happen, but it is the exception rather than the rule.
